Julian Vandervelde Undergoes Back Surgery

No timetable set on the offensive lineman's return.

The Eagles announced Sunday afternoon that backup center Julian Vandervelde has undergone back surgery. As of this time, no timetable has been set for his return, although he's expected to miss the early part of the season.

Vandervelde has been out since early in camp with apparently nagging back issues. Former Charger David Molk has taken the majority of second team reps behind Jason Kelce. At this point, it would seem likely that Molk would make the roster for at least the early portion of the 2014 season.

Vandervelde, a fifth-round selection in 2011 by the Eagles, has been active for 16 games over three seasons with the Eagles, with no starts.
