Cody Parkey Makes It

The Eagles' new sensation at kicker has been assured a roster spot.

After booming field goals of 53 and 54 yards, how would the Eagles not keep rookie kicker Cody Parkey?

Eliot Shor-Parks of NJ.com cites anonymous sources in reporting that the Eagles have assured Parkey a spot on the 53-man roster, in the midst of this weekend's cuts.

Less than ten days ago, the Eagles sent running back David Fluellen to the Colts in exchange for Parkey, who didn't appear to be forcing ageless Adam Vinatieri out of the kicking job. Against Alex Henery in Philadelphia, the task seemed far easier.

The enduring story of the Parkey/Henery saga will be Parkey's third converted field goal on Thursday night, one in which Henery was to have attempted before special teams coordinator David Fipp changed his mind. Henery's forlorn expression post-Parkey conversion became a viral image on social media sites within minutes.

It's important to note that Henery has not been released from the Eagles just yet. However, the odds of Chip Kelly keeping two kickers are minimal, especially when he values blocking/coverage depth on special teams.
