Kelly Criticizes Offensive Line

They were far from the only scapegoat, but the offensive line deserves a hefty share of blame for their loss in Santa Clara. Chip Kelly concurs.

Increased man coverage took away the deep ball from Nick Foles. Turnovers didn't help either, particularly two lost fumbles and an underthrown Foles heave in the third quarter.

Chip Kelly, however, placed plenty of blame on the offensive line's performance. Lots of pressure up the middle through David Molk and Dennis Kelly did just as much damage. Foles' third-quarter INT was partially caused by Justin Smith beating Jason Peters, and getting a lick on Foles just as he released the pass.

Said Kelly:

"We just got whooped up front. We're not very good up front right now. We've got a lot of guys banged up, and that's not an excuse, it's just the reality of it."

The Eagles regain Lane Johnson this coming week, coming off of his four-game PED suspension. Evan Mathis cannot return until November 10. Jason Kelce is expected back in that relative time-frame.
