Philadelphia Eagles Team Injury / Notes

Offensively, the Eagles will try to do much the same thing they did Sunday against Buffalo, which is mix the run and the pass and try to control the football and keep their defense off the field. Look for Donovan McNabb to run early and keep the Redskins' pass rush on its toes. Defensively, the Eagles, playing with two relatively inexperienced cornerbacks and an inexperienced free safety, will try to keep the Redskins' dangerous receivers in front of them and limit their yards after the catch.

Eagles LDT Corey Simon vs. Redskins RG Randy Thomas. Simon is off to the best start of his career and needs to get inside push on the quarterback for the Eagles' pass rush to be effective.

Eagles CBs Sheldon Brown and Lito Sheppard vs. Redskins WRs Laveranues Coles and Rod Gardner. Brown and Sheppard have replaced injured Pro Bowlers Troy Vincent and Bobby Taylor. Eagles are 31st in the league vs. the pass and have allowed opposing QBs to complete 68.3 percent of their passes.

INJURYS: DE Brandon Whiting, who missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, returned to practice Wednesday and is expected to play Sunday against Washington. He'll start at left end, allowing Darwin Walker to slide back inside to right tackle.

RG Jermane Mayberry suffered a sprained elbow in Sunday's win over Buffalo. Listed as questionable, he didn't practice Wednesday, but probably will play Sunday. If he can't, he'll be replaced by backup Bobbie Williams.

CB Troy Vincent will miss Sunday's game with a hamstring injury. He is listed as questionable, but there's no chance he'll play. He pulled it in the opening minutes of last week's win over Buffalo. It remains to be seen whether he'll be back for next week's game against Dallas.

CB Sheldon Brown will make his first NFL start Sunday in place of injured Troy Vincent. Brown replaced Vincent after he got hurt last week. Brown likely will shadow the Redskins' top receiver, Laveranues Coles.

CB Bobby Taylor will miss his third straight game. Taylor has plantar fasciitis in his left foot. There's a possibility he could be back in time for next week's game against Dallas.

FS Brian Dawkins, who is recovering from a Lisfranc sprain in his foot, will miss his third straight game. It could be another couple of weeks or more before Dawkins is able to return. He's been replaced by former Arena Leaguer Clinton Hart.

DE Jerome McDougle, who has had a high ankle sprain since the last preseason game, still doesn't appear to be anywhere close to returning, although he was upgraded to doubtful on the team's injury report this week. He'll miss his fourth straight game Sunday.

CB Daryon Brutley, who was signed by the Eagles on Tuesday, is expected to be activated for Sunday's game. With both Taylor and Vincent out, the Eagles have just four healthy corners, including Brutley. If he doesn't suit up Sunday, they would have to eliminate their dime package, which features four corners and 6 and 7 defensive backs.

LB Keith Adams, who is the wedge buster on the Eagles' kickoff coverage team and a key member of their special teams, probably will sit out Sunday's game against Washington. He suffered a concussion last week against Buffalo and is listed as doubtful on the team's injury report.
