Roster Moves

The Philadelphia Eagles today announced they have re-signed WR Darnerien McCants and placed DT Paul Grasmanis on the Injured Reserve list. In addition, the team signed DT Jason Jefferson to the practice squad.

McCants (6-3, 215) was originally signed by the Eagles on September 3rd and saw action in the first three games, catching one pass for 22 yards. He was released by the Eagles last Friday to make room for K Todd France on the 53-man roster.

A 5th round draft choice of Washington in 2001, he appeared in 29 games for the Redskins, including three starts. After being inactive for all 16 games of his rookie year, he went on to record 53 receptions for 687 yards and eight touchdowns over the next three seasons.

A Gambrills, MD, native, McCants starred collegiately at Delaware State, where as a tight end caught 36 passes for 692 yards and 18 touchdowns during his senior season. His touchdown total led all of Division I-AA that year and set new school and conference records.

Grasmanis, a veteran member of the Eagles defensive tackle rotation for the last 6 seasons, had his season cut short due to a ruptured right Achilles tendon suffered during last Sunday's win at Kansas City. He has played in 104 regular season games and 7 playoff contests during his 9-year NFL career.

Jefferson (6-1, 310), was a sixth round draft choice of New Orleans in 2005, but was released on August 28. He subsequently spent time on Chicago's practice squad. A native of Chicago, IL, Jefferson posted 100 tackles and five sacks during his career at Wisconsin.
