Eagles Give Banner An Extension

Joe Banner's tenure as the president of the Philadelphia Eagles is impressive; Four division titles and an NFC Championship. And make no mistake about it, Banner's knowledge of the salary cap and ability to run the franchise on a daily basis is a big part of their success.

Joe Banner has been Jeffrey Lurie's right-hand man since even before Lurie bought the Eagles. In fact, it was Banner's suggestion that pushed Lurie to pursue buying the Eagles and the rest, as they say, is history.

These days, Banner is spending most of his time working with head coach Andy Reid and general manager Tom Heckert as the birds prepare for draft day.

The new deal for Banner runs through 2010 and Banner says that he has never thought of going elsewhere.

Banner's arrival in Philadelphia, and his tenure with the team, has been the best in the team's history. Under Banner's watch, the Eagles have developed the NovaCare Complex - which is thought to be one of the best in the NFL - as the Eagles training site and the team has also moved into their new Lincoln Financial Field.
