Welcome, Mr. Bunkley

Brodrick Bunkley, the Eagles' first round pick and 14th overall pick in this year's draft, dropped his holdout and signed a six-year deal with the Eagles. The financial terms weren't released, but the deal is done.

Now, the only question is when Brodrick Bunkley will report to Lehigh. The 6' 2", 300 pounder is expected to report to camp soon, but there hasn't been an official time table set for his arrival and he must pass conditioning drills before he would be allowed to take part in any practices with the team.

The Eagles have a hectic schedule, having left Lehigh to play in the Hall of Fame game Sunday night in Canton, Ohio. They'll return to Lehigh for one day of practice on Tuesday and then play the Cleveland Browns next Thursday night in Philadelphia. While Bunkley may travel to Canton with the club, it's unlikely that he would play in the Hall of Fame game. Instead, he'll probably pick up with the rest of the team when they return to Lehigh.

Perhaps Andy Reid's comments on Thursday played a part in Bunkley agreeing to terms with the Eagles. When asked who was benefitting from Bunkley's absence, Reid didn't mince any words. "[Ed] Jasper has gotten a lot of [repetitions] in the spot of Bunkley and the good thing about it is he looks pretty good. He's doing a nice job."

Bunkley emerged as one of the best defensive tackles in the nation after a stellar senior campaign at Florida State. An All-America honoree, he recorded 66 tackles, nine sacks, 15 hurries, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble for the Seminoles. His 25 tackles for a loss ranked 2nd in the nation and set a single-season school record.

In 44 career games, Bunkley started 22 times and amassed 129 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 24 hurries, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. He finished his career ranked 5th in school history with 37 tackles for a loss.

The Tampa, FL, native attended Chamberlain High School (FL), where he led his team to the state finals as a senior while posting 18.5 sacks.
