While the Eagles would appear to be pretty heavy favorites against Tennessee, this is one of those games to watch out for. The Birds can't be looking ahead to next week's matchup in Indianapolis and have to be sure to take care of business at home first.
KICKOFF: Sunday, 1:00 ET
TV: CBS, Ian Eagle, Solomon Wilcots
SERIES: 9th meeting. Eagles lead series 6-2. The Titans won the last two meetings, 27-24 in Nashville in 2002 and 15-13 in Philadelphia in 2000.
2006 RANKINGS: Titans: offense 27th (12th rush, 29th pass); defense 32nd (31st rush, 25th pass). Eagles: offense 1st (9th rush, 3rd pass); defense 12th (10th rush, 8th pass)
Titans: Are 10-4 against the NFC East under coach Jeff Fisher... Are 2-14 in their past 16 road games.
Eagles: QB Donovan McNabb has thrown an
interception in just three of nine games... Brian Westbrook leads the team in rushing yards (613) and receptions (41)
WR Roydell Williams missed practice Wednesday and Thursday as he was excused for personal reasons. If he can't catch up upon his return, rookie Jonathan Orr could move ahead of him as the team's fourth receiver.
WR Jonathan Orr could see work as the Titans' fourth receiver Sunday in Philadelphia. Roydell Williams missed practice Wednesday and Thursday for personal reasons, and if he can't get caught up when he returns, Orr would get his role for a week.
WR Brandon Jones is the Titans' No. 2 receiver now that David Givens (knee) is out for the year.
DE Travis LaBoy has evolved into a pretty good situational pass rusher, but he could be sidelined in Philadelphia if he's not sufficiently recovered from a concussion suffered against Baltimore.
K Rob Bironas (groin) didn't kick Thursday for the second time this week and is listed as questionable for the Philadelphia game. Odds are he'll be a go, but if not, P Craig Hentrich is a capable kicker.
Notes from the 'Nest
S Mike Lewis will be used again as a hybrid linebacker in the Eagles' 4-1-6 dime package. FS Brian Dawkins, who had played that role in that scheme, will again move back into coverage.
LB Matt McCoy was listed on the injury report as probable with an abdomen injury. He practiced Thursday and is expect to play.
RB Reno Mahe will continue to handle both the punt and kickoff return duties.
DT Brodrick Bunkley probably will get a few more snaps Sunday than he's been getting because of Mike Patterson's broken hand.
PREDICTION: Eagles 34-21
