Brent Celek Press Conference Transcript

Andy Reid worked a strategy of going for the best available player when they made their draft selections. One of those best possible players was tight end Brent Celek who is looking forward to being a Philadelphia Eagle.

On how well he knows former Cincinnati DE and current Eagle Trent Cole:
"Actually, I tried to get a hold of Trent. I couldn't get a hold of his phone number lately. So, I haven't talked to him for a while, but when we were in college, Trent and I were good buddies. I really like Trent and he's a great player."

On what he expected coming into the draft:
"Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. A couple of teams were telling me [I could be drafted] early second day, but I really didn't know what to expect. I'm just sitting at home real nervous, then you guys [the Eagles organization] gave me a call, and made me happy. It's exciting."

On whether the Eagles were one of the teams that talked to him prior to the draft:
"Yes. They're coach came down and worked me out. Then we had a meeting afterwards and it went real well, so, I knew I had a chance with the Eagles [to be picked]."

On whether adding muscle will help his line of scrimmage play at the NFL level:
"I would think so. That's something that I really work on. I pride myself in working hard in the off season, and I'll continue to do that with the Eagles. So, hopefully I'll get stronger, faster, and become even better."

On how aware he is about TE L.J. Smith's contract situation:
"Yeah, I've seen L.J. Smith play a couple of times, and he's a great player- a real great player. I'm from the Cincinnati area, so, [TE Matt] Schobel used to play for the Bengals and I used to watch him a lot and he's a real good player. I don't know what the situation is going to be like going up there[to Philadelphia], but I can't wait to get up there and work with those guys."
