"We want to make sure he can move around tomorrow, if possible. So we gave him a few shots and got him back to the ice tub," said Reid after the practice.
McNabb didn't talk to reporters, but issued a statement stressing how happy he was with his progress. "It felt great to get back out there on the field with all of the guys. It's just part of the rehab process and hopefully good things will continue to come. It is important to continue to monitor my progress, but also be smart about the whole situation."
The Eagles quarterback went down with a torn knee ligament last November and has been progressing well in his rehab. Last week, McNabb received a positive report when he had his knee examined and hinted that he may be getting close to returning to practice. As Reid said, the big moment will come when McNabb arrives at mini-camp Tuesday and reports how he feels after the short session. For now, the Eagles are remaining hopeful that McNabb will be ready to start the season as their quarterback. Last week on Daily News Live, McNabb said that he believes he'll be ready to start the season, but that Andy Reid will make the final decision and that he'll abide by that.
