Atlanta hires Emery and Webster as scouts

The Falcons add two former general managers to the front office.

The Falcons will at least have some big names in the front office. They have hired former NFL general managers Phil Emery and Ruston Webster to join their scouting staff.

Emery was the GM of the Chicago Bears from 2012 through 2014. His legacy in Chicago includes hiring Marc Trestman as head coach over Bruce Arians after firing Lovie Smith. Emery was with Atlanta from 2004 through 2008 as the director of college scouting. He then worked for Scott Pioli in Kansas City as the Chiefs’ director of college scouting from 2009-2011. Emery was out of the league in 2015.

Webster was the GM of the Tennessee Titans from 2012 through 2015. Webster drafted Marcus Mariota for Tennessee last year. He’s also worked in Seattle and Tampa Bay and was the interim general manager in Seattle in 2009.

Along with current executives Thomas Dimitroff and Pioli, Atlanta has two other former general managers in the front office. Team president Rich McKay was GM of the Falcons and the Bucs, while scout Billy Devaney led the Rams.
