Former Redskins' lineman

The Falcons have added to the offensive line with the addition of Tom Compton.

The Falcons will add offensive lineman Tom Compton to the roster.

Compton turns 27 on May 10. He spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Washington Redskins. He started 10 of 44 games in that span, with nine starts in 2014.

Compton is 6-5 and 308 pounds. He's mainly a tackle, but Compton played in Kyle Shanahan's zone blocking scheme with the Redskins.

The Falcons will likely allow Compton to battle for playing time at guard, even though he played tackle mostly for Washington. He did have some playing time at right guard in his career.

The Redskins picked Compton in the sixth round of the 2012 draft out of South Dakota.
