Falcons Lining Up Workout with Georgia CB

In a Friday interview with FalconInsider.com publisher Doug Farrar, Georgia cornerback Asher Allen indicated that he'll be visiting the Atlanta Falcons very soon. "We're just waiting for the date," Allen said.

The 5-10, 194-pound cornerback, who declared for the NFL draft after his junior season, played through 2008 with a broken hand. He finished with no interceptions, though this was a function of scheme and offenses throwing away from him to a certain extent. Allen is a good tackler who is often asked to play on the line in coverage or run support.

Allen received a clean bill of health at the Combine, where he expertly ran position drills. He improved his 40 time at his Pro Day on March 19 -- a blistering 4.33. This was a function of his ability to see himself on film and adjust what he called "a rolling start." At his Pro Day, Allen got specific interest from the Panthers, Eagles and Giants, and the Browns worked him out at the Georgia facility the next day. Allen is projected my most as a second- or third-round pick.

Allen won't have to use his frequent-flyer miles to see Flowery Branch -- he was born and raised in the Atlanta area, and currently lives just down the highway from the Georgia Dome.

Stay tuned for a feature on Allen, based on our exclusive interview, in the very near future!
