Accorsi talks about the upcoming draft

With the NFL Draft still 10 days away, Giants GM Ernie Accorsi was already in typical pre-draft defensive mode. For instance, he wouldn't even admit on the record that New York is in need of defensive line help.

That said, Accorsi did admit that Big Blue would move up in the first round for the right player, but cautioned that the Giants don't want to jump too high, because it would cost too much.

"I'd be lying to you if I said we wouldn't trade up to get the guy we want," he said. "But to go very high, history says you'd have to give up next year's number one (pick). We're not going to do that."

Accorsi added that it would be unlikely that Big Blue would use all of its 11 draft picks, indicating some sort of trade is expected. "If we draft 11 players, we'd have to cut other players before camp," he said.

The GM also said, as he does every year, that too much emphasis is placed on the first-round pick. "An incredible amount of Hall-of-Fame players were picked in the second round," Accorsi stated.
