Giants search for Cruz control against Jets

As the Giants prepare to go into their final preseason game against the Jets, wide receiver Victor Cruz will be taking full advantage of this practice. Cruz also says that the offense needs to be making more plays in order to build their confidence to the Super Bowl level it was once at.

On Friday the yearly New York rivalry preseason game against the Giants and Jets will take place. This is the last chance the Giants have to perfect and get a better understanding of their new offense before the regular season starts up.

The game will prove where the offense is according to Victor Cruz and how well they have been able to build some continuity before going into the regular season.

“I think offensively for us one’s it definitely means something,” noted Cruz. “It means for us to come in there and build some continuity and build some sequence and get a drive going in the right direction. So it definitely means something for us.”

Cruz also knows the importance of being on target this late into the preseason. “We’ve got to get things going, we’ve got to get on the right track. There’s a lot less mental errors out here and you can see a change”.

With Week 1 looming at the end of their preseason game against the Jets, Cruz is taking every opportunity to put more emphasis on this last shot.

“I try to prepare myself as if I’m playing the entire game so I can get in there and get into a groove and be comfortable mentally while I’m in the game…that’s the way we have to approach it as if this is our game and we have to play to win and act like this is our last chance that we get to rehearse before Week 1 so we’ve got to approach it that way for sure,” said Cruz.

For Cruz, his long history and Super Bowl win with Eli have been able to build confidence in the past for the offense. Now however, the new offense needs more successful plays to build back the confidence as a team.

“We definitely have enough confidence in ourselves knowing that everything’s going to be OK but from an offensive standpoint you definitely want to make some plays, to have some success to kind of build on that confidence and build on that going into the final preseason game and into the regular season,” said Cruz.
