Report: Giants retain Perry Fewell, Tom Quinn

The New York Giants will reportedly keep both their defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator.

As first reported by Newsday a team source has indicated that the Giants will retain the services of defensive coordinator Perry Fewell and special teams coordinator Tom Quinn. Big Blue finished the season ranked No. 30 against the rush allowing over 135 yards per game on the ground and No. 18 defending the pass surrendering over 240 yards through the air.

Fewell had been rumored to be the odd man out on Tom Coughlin’s staff, but it looks as though John Mara and Steve Tisch want to keep the old regime together for another go around in 2015.

As for Quinn, New York’s special teams unit was less than spectacular with punter Steve Weatherford finishing the year with a net punt average of 38.6, the eighth worst amongst NFL punters.

Return man Preston Parker bring back kicks an average of 24.2 yards which ranked No. 15 in the league. On the bright side, placekicker Josh Brown converted 24-of26 field goal attempts, a career best percentage.
