 Key Matchups:

49ers RB Darren Sproles vs. Giants LB’s

Jon Beason is questionable after suffering a concussion and Devon Kennard is out , but the linebacking corps will likely have their hands full trying to cover RB Darren Sproles in the open field.  The Eagles offensive line has had their struggles so far this season, and the Giants have on of the best running defenses in the league.  They may look to dump passes out of the backfield in an attempt to offset their lack of rushing offense. The Giants linebackers are pretty banged up, so they are going to need to focus on Sproles when he is in the game.  He is the type of player who can change the outlook of the game in one play.

Eagles DE Fletcher Cox vs. Giants OT Ereck Flowers

Fletcher Cox has 4 sacks on the season and has proved to be a very strong pass rusher for this Eagles defense. Flowers is likely the guy who will be attempting to shield Eli Manning from Cox. Especially if some of Manning’s usual targets are not active, he may need the extra time in the pocket.

Interesting Notes and Key Facts:

Last week Eli Manning completed 41 passes, which was a franchise record. He also was named NFC Offensive player of the week.

Giants kicker Josh Brown has been among the best in the league so far this season. He is a perfect 13 for 13 on field goals, which leads the NFL in field goals made. However, he has missed an extra point.

After rushing for 1,845 yards last regular season, Demarco Murray has struggled this season rushing for only 130 yards through 4 games, which puts him on pace for 520 yards.

Before becoming the offensive coordinator at Oregon, in 2006, Tom Coughlin attempted to get Chip Kelly to take a job as the quality control coach. In declining, Kelly went on to become a household name at Oregon, and is now facing Tom Coughlin on Monday night.

The coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, Bill Davis, was formerly a Giants linebackers coach.

This game marks the fourth straight game in which a different Eagles quarterback is starting.  This time around it is Sam Bradford. The previous three meetings have seen the starters as Mark Sanchez, Nick Foles, and Matt Barkley.
