Will Beatty stays on PUP list, season over

The New York Giants will shutdown their offensive tackle for the year.

Head coach Tom Coughlin announced during Thursday’s press conference that offensive lineman Will Beatty will remain on the physically unable to perform list with a rotator cuff injury that will likely require surgery.

Beatty sustained a torn pectoral muscle back in May while weightlifting at the team’s training facility.

New York placed him on the PUP list and remained hopeful Beatty could return late in the season.

For the past three weeks Beatty has been practicing with the team and Thursday marked the deadline for when the Giants had to activate the offensive tackle.

The injury leaves the Giants with first round pick Ereck Flowers at left tackle and free agent acquisition right tackle Marshall Newhouse for the remainder of the season.

Beatty signed a five-year extension with the Giants back in 2013, but his future with the team looks cloudy at best.
