Yesterday, it was announced that Victor Cruz would undergo surgery on his calf and would be ruled out for the rest of the season. Last season, Cruz had the horrible knee injury that shortened his season. Over the offseason, Cruz suffered an injury to his calf and repeatedly experienced problems and setbacks until he tore it on Saturday.
"It takes time," admitted Pierre-Paul. "He's got to do it himself. He can't listen to what people say. You've got to do what you can. Everybody is going to have their say-so and opinion, but you've got to have faith and the believe that you can do it."
Jason Pierre-Paul who has returned from his injury to his hand in the offseason, has returned to action the past two weeks. When asked how he will be the final six games of the season Pierre-Paul replied saying,
“Each game I’m getting better and better so this just my second game, and I’m ready for the next one”.
JPP put pressure on Brady a couple of times throughout the contest and his presence alone is aiding the Giants defense.
When he was asked about the loss of Victor Cruz for the season due to his injury, Pierre-Paul was caught off guard and was unaware that he was done for the season. However, he said,
“Tough loss. That’s a tough loss, ya know. We thought he would be able to come back and help the team but the next guy has to step up.”
The Giants will have to wait longer than usual to take the field after the tough defeat against the Patriots as they have their bye this upcoming week. Hopefully, the bye will allow them to heal up in order to make the final push towards the very winnable NFC East. ,
"Guys are going to do whatever they have to do –take the time off and clear their heads, come back and we have Washington next. So, that’s the point we are looking forward to and we’re looking forward to that week.”
Last year, the Giants defense gave up 40 points to the Indianapolis Colts in a loss after the bye week. They went on to lose five straight following their bye week. This year, the Giants have a key divisional game against the Washington Redskins who have put themselves in the mix within the NFC East at 4-5. The Giants need to be able to shake off this close loss and put their focus towards beating the Redskins in two weeks.
