1. Harris takes it home
The Jets seized early control of the contest grabbing a 3-0 advantage following a Randy Bullock with 5:51 left in the first quarter. The Giants struggled to get much of anything going offensively and looked to a special teams returner to open the scoring.
Dwayne Harris hauled in a punt from Ryan Quigley and danced in and out of would-be tackles; wiggling his way down the sidelines and into the end zone for the score. The Giants grabbed a 7-3 advantage and finally showed signs of life after a sluggish start.
2. Jets goal line stand
Normally as sure-handed as they come, running back Chris Ivory put the ball on the ground and Jason Pierre-Paul recovered it for the Giants at the Jets 18. Two plays late Hakeem Nicks shook away from Antonio Cromarie and hauled in the pass at the one-inch line. Facing the prospect of going down 14-3, Gang Green’s defensive front stood tall ransacking Andre Williams in the backfield for a loss and forcing the Giants to settle for three points.
3. Oh Odell!
Until the 2:30 minute mark of the first half, Buster Skrine and the Jets secondary was doing a fabulous job of holding down Odell Beckham Jr. Eli Manning dropped back on 3rd-and-2 from his own 28 and found Beckham who raced past Skrine and Marcus Gilchrist for the 72 yard score. Gang Green knew that containing Beckham wouldn’t be easy, but Skrine jumping Beckham’s route opened the door for the second-year superstar to push the Giants edge to 17-10.
