The New York Giants will need some help to stay afloat in the NFC East and they might need to root for an archnemesis to make that happen.
Eli Manning met with reporters following the Giants mind-numbing 23-20 overtime loss to the Jets on Sunday and acknowledged that his team is no longer in control of its playoff destiny and will need help from the Cowboys Monday night.
"Well, it happens," said Manning. "I guess we’ve had to root for divisional teams before, but I don’t think I’ll be wearing a Matt Cassel jersey or anything, but we’ll be hoping they can pull out a win."
It must pain him to say it, but the Giants quarterback has no other choice than to root for Cassel and company in order to create a three-way tie atop the NFC East.
"Yeah, of course," said Manning as to whether he'll pay attention to the Monday night game. "We always pay attention to what’s going on in the division. It affects us. I guess at this point we’ll be rooting, got to be rooting, for the Cowboys."
