OBJ Has Rough First Half Against Panthers

The Christmas cleats didn't exactly work out in OBJ's favor.

Put a check mark on Josh Norman's side of the ledger as he along with a swarming Carolina Panthers secondary held Odell Beckham Jr. without a catch in the first half. The Giants superstar dropped a potential long touchdown in the first quarter and was targeted just twice by quarterback Eli Manning.

Beckham appeared to lose his cool on several plays including getting flagged for an illegal blow to the head penalty as he slammed his helmet against Norman's. Carolina's defense held Manning to just 84 passing yards, but did allow 66 yards on the ground. Rashad Jennings coughed up the football with 3:30 remaining in the second quarter and on third down Cam Newton found tight end Greg Olsen for a 37-yard score.

Following a 3-and-out Newton marched the Panthers 72 yards in just 1:09 and found Devin Funchess in the back corner of the end zone for a 14-yard touchdown reception with just 15 seconds remaining.

All told, the first half was nothing short of a nightmare for Beckham and company.
