In the first 11-on-11 field goal drill of the summer, Bryant, the incumbent who scored 108 points as a rookie last season, made four of six field goal attempts, missing from 38 and 43 yards. Both of his misses occurred after Jesse Palmer replaced Jeff Feagles as the holder.
Hollis, the free agent who signed with the Giants on April 10, hit six of seven tries, missing only from the left hashmark from 38 yards out.
Bryant, kicking first, started from 20 yards out. His second kick was from 23 yards, then he backed up five yards on each successive attempt before stopping with his 43-yard try. Hollis followed the same pattern, though his final kick was a 48-yarder. It was good.
Kicking without the full squad on Friday, Fassel said both players made 13 of 15 attempts.
"We chart every kick," Fassel said. "The thing to take into consideration now is we're working with different snappers and different holders. We're measuring all that stuff, and everything is timed, everything is charted. Then I'm just going to let it play out. It's going to be decided over the long haul."
The kickers will get an equal number of opportunities in practice. Fassel would like to be just as equitable during the preseason games, but knows that is difficult.
"One of the hardest things to do is to get equal playing time for your kickers," he said. "You can't go half-and-half. One game a guy may get a lot of kicks in the first half and then you're not kicking in the second half or vice-versa. But I want them to have equal chances to kick in a game."
If that occurs, Fassel, who does not want to keep two kickers on the final roster, figures to have a difficult decision.
"I have a feeling when it comes down to it," he said, "it will be kind of a flip of a coin, anyway."
