New York Giants - Friday Notes

"I'm not happy with it,I won't tolerate people making disrespectful comments." - Head Coach Jim Fassel on TE Jeremy Shockey's recent comments

* Jim Fassel has no plans to punish Jeremy Shockey for his recent controversial remarks. Shockey referred to Bill Parcells as a "homo" in the latest issue of New Yorker magazine.

"I'm not happy with it," Fassel said. "I won't tolerate people making disrespectful comments."

Shockey denied making the comments. "He said, 'Coach, I didn't say that,' " Fassel said. "Jeremy Shockey has been honest with me from day one."

* Fassel was especially displeased with the turnovers, OL play and coverage mistakes during New York's preseason opening loss in New England.

* He said that he thought rookie David Diehl would play better. "But I still feel like he can be an outstanding player for us," Fassel said.

* Second-year LB Nick Greisen was perhaps the best Giant on Thursday evening.

"He played extremely well," Fassel said. "If Nick continues to play the way he did last night, we'll find a way to get him on the field. He played an outstanding game."

* Coach vowed to give Dorsey Levens more playing time in New York's next exhibition tilt.

* Finally, Fassel said he expects reserve CB Kato Serwanga, who left Albany abruptly last Tuesday, to return to the team this week.
