Big Blue had a productive offseason, acquiring defensive talent to fortify what was the Achilles heel to the 2015 New York Giants.
With the addition of Janoris Jenkins and Olivier Vernon along with a more experienced Landon Collins, the Giants are prepared to turn things around and have one of the topped ranked defenses in the NFC.
Now, the challenge for Ben McAdoo is assembling the correct balance of offense, defense, and special teams to fill the 53 man roster with contributing players that can lead the team to success.
This will be especially important in the secondary with an injury prone Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie the inconsistent play of Collins always leaving question marks to a group that struggled severely. They need quality backups that are ready to play at any given time.
Another area of concern in the injury department is the highly anticipated return of WR Victor Cruz. The Giants will need to focus on getting Shepard in shape for the season because they cannot rely on Cruz's return just yet.
Although he is expected to make his debut this year, Cruz has missed almost 2 seasons. While Shepard is looking great on the field, he is still a rookie. Can he handle the starting role or the potential pressure of the playoffs?
The team will have to work hard to mold him during camp in order to be ready for their first home game against the Cowboys, where Shepard will face experienced cornerback Brandon Carr in his first NFL debut.
