The New York Giants have signed punter Brad Wing to a 3-year $6.45M contract extension through the 2019 season. The Pittsburgh Steelers traded the Australian-born punter to New York last September after spending his first two seasons there, and made an impact right away. In 2015, Wing ranked 15th among NFL punters, accumulating a 44.5-yard gross average and a 38.9-yard net average on 76 punts.
He had 33 punts land inside the 20, tying the Giants’ single-season record set by Brad Maynard in 1997 and 1998, 10 touchbacks, and his longest punt traveled 64 yards. As a rookie in Pittsburgh in 2014, Wing was just as good, totaling a 43.7-yard gross average and a 38.8-yard net average on just 61 punts.
He also placed 20 kicks inside the 20-yard line, had 4 touchbacks, and hit a long punt of 74 yards. Before the Giants and Steelers, Wing punted for LSU Tigers and was a teammate and good friend of Odell Beckham Jr. He was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles on April 29th, 2013, and was waved at the end of camp before being signed to a future contract by Pittsburgh in January of 2014.
