Week 3 Opponent: Washington Redskins
Key free agent departures: RB Alfred Morris (Dallas), QB Robert Griffin III (Cleveland)
Top 3 Impact Rookies: WR Josh Doctson (TCU), S Su’a Cravens (USC), DT Matt Ioannidis (Temple)—All were first 3-round picks
Biggest offseason addition: CB Josh Norman is by far the biggest offseason addition for the Redskins. His 4 interceptions and 56 combined tackles earned hi All-Pro and NFC Most Improved honors, as well as vaulting him into the discussion of the best cornerback in football.
Most intriguing storyline heading into training camp: Can Kirk Cousins prove that last season wasn’t a fluke? Cousins’ 29 TD’s on over 4,000 yards passing got him the franchise tag for this season, and with new weapons to throw to in Davis and Doctson, he needs to continue his success from last season and finally move the team out of the RG III era.
Under-the-radar storyline heading into training camp: Washington’s potentially lethal attack through the air. With strong-armed Cousins and now 4 receivers—Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson, @James Crodwer, and now Josh Doctson--capable of making big plays, the Redskins could potentially have one of the most prolific aerial assaults in the NFL.
Key Injuries heading into training camp: Jordan Reed, Ryan Kerrigan, Trent Williams and DeAngelo Hall all are starters who have lingering injuries coming into camp. Kerrigan should be good to go for Week 1 after getting his knee scoped in the offseason, while Hall and Williams are questionable with Hall tearing his Achilles twice last season and Williams coming off of surgery to repair torn ligaments in his ankle in April that forced him to miss OTA’s.
