Many have been awaiting the New York Giants superstar’s response to his newfound foe signing with a divisional rival, and he finally delivered in an interview for GQ magazine set to hit shelves in August.
As per ProFootballTalk’s Josh Alper, Odell Beckham Jr. blatantly said Norman signed with the Washington Redskins because the two would have to line up together twice a year.
“If I wasn’t playing him twice a year, maybe people wouldn’t bring it up as much,” Beckham Jr. explained. “But now it’ll be a lot more media attention for him, attention that I don’t really look for, attention that I don’t need. The reason he’s become so relevant is because of me.”
Now, in Norman’s defense, he was an up-and-coming menace on the Panthers’ defensive front locking down top wideouts like Julio Jones before visiting the G-Men. But, it wasn’t until the grudge match at Metlife Stadium that made Norman a household name.
OBJ’s shot claiming Norman’s new popularity is sure to rekindle the banter between the two enemies. The two shared some hatred on Twitter after that fateful game, but since then things have been quiet until the news of Norman’s free agent splash in the NFC East.
The rematch (which hopefully will be more civil) is set for September 25 on the Giants home turf. If Norman doesn’t answer Odell by then, look for him to respond in person between the hashes.
