Odell Beckham Jr. credits Manning for game-winning TD

According to Odell Beckham Jr., the man of the hour was not himself, but Eli Manning for adjusting the play on the game-winning touchdown.

In a game where the New York Giants were in desperate need of a win, Odell Beckham Jr. came through for Big Blue. With a 75-yard touchdown in the end of the third quarter and a 66-yard touchdown at the end of the game, Beckham solidified his stat line. He was the obvious MVP of this team against the Baltimore Ravens, and without him, it is likely the Giants would be 2-4 right now rather than 3-3.

Beckham has had his fair share of game-winning touchdowns over the course of his young NFL career. On Sunday, however, he truly won the game for the Giants catching a slant over the middle of the field and taking it to the house. He had the perfect response when questioned about how he felt scoring the winning touchdown:

“I caught the slant and didn’t know how close the defender was. First of all, Eli changed the play. He had a play on and saw some different coverages that you can’t mess with. He changed the play and put me in a perfect position to run a slant” Beckham told reporters. “I catch it and see one safety angling to the right. I know that for someone to be able to open their hips and run at the same time to run me down, they’re going to be very fast. I went left and it all worked out.”

This was a great response by Beckham because rather than telling how he felt emotionally, he credited Eli Manning for the play.

After scoring both of his touchdowns, Beckham immediately rushed over to the kicker’s net. He first hugged and laid beneath the net; after the game-winning touchdown, however, Beckham escalated his relationship with the net:

“Well, our relationship is growing. I thought we might as well make it serious” Beckham stated. “I proposed and she said yes. Me and the net are going to get married sometime soon. Hopefully it all works out. I’m 23, so I don’t know much about marriage. She seems like a pretty nice gal.” Beckham also gave a description of what his and the nets’ kids will look like: “It’ll be nice. Blonde nettish.”

It’s nice to see that the net has forgiven Beckham for punching it (or her, apparently) during week 3. Now that we know he and the net are committed to getting married, we can expect Beckham to be spending even more time with the net during games.

In all seriousness, Beckham had the best statistical game of his career, posting 222 yards and 2 touchdowns. It is great for Beckham that after a rough start to the season, he is back in stride with Manning and the rest of the offense.
