Victor Cruz says Miami Yacht Party 'definitely wasn’t worth it'

The veteran wide receiver finally conceded that his unit's spontaneous trip to Miami wasn't worth the backlash he received after the team's defeat in the NFC Wildcard game.

More news about the Miami yacht escapade the New York Giants wide receivers embarked on found headlines yet again – this time thanks to WR Victor Cruz.

Cruz went on SNY’s “TimeOut with Taylor Rooks” podcast where he brought up the infamous trip, and his words matched the assumptions experts and fans alike had following the horrific loss at Lambeau Field almost three weeks ago.

“Looking back on it, it definitely wasn’t worth it,” Cruz explained. “At the end of the day, you want to put your mind in a place where you want to succeed at whatever your next task is, especially in a football setting and a football atmosphere.”

The banter on the controversy – specifically whether or not the trip was the blame for the wideouts’ performance – had faded out of sight prior to these comments. In the heat of it all, the wide receivers were ripped on every media outlet for going on the trip. To make matters worse, they didn’t back up their festivities after a mundane performance Giants fans won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

Cruz, himself, finished the Wild Card game with three catches on four targets for a measly 30 yards as the Packers went on to rout the Giants, 38-13.

The Giants’ cohort blew off questions about the trip when they returned saying they would focus on Green Bay. Cruz himself stated, “…if it ain’t about Green Bay, we’re not talking about it.”

Now, after the fact, it appears Cruz, and likely his teammates as well, regret their decision to travel to South Beach following their final regular season game. The only thing to do with that regret now is use it as fuel for the offseason.
