Beckham was set to fly out of California Sunday night, where he spent the weekend at the Coachella Music Festival in Palm Springs. He missed his red eye flight, causing Dunkin’ Donuts, the sponsor of the event, to arrange for another flight on Monday.
The exclusive football clinic, which hosted the Van Cortland Park Titans, was set to take place from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The New York Post reports that Beckham showed up around 7 pm and left promptly by 8:15 pm. According to the report, Beckham did not apologize for the inconvenience.
The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver has a history of immaturity, on and off the field. Last season, Beckham and a few of his fellow Giants teammates were pictured partying in Miami a few days prior to the Giants’ wild card playoff match up against the Green Bay Packers.
The men were scrutinized by the media and were questioned if the trip was appropriate and would be considered a distraction. With the media circus around the trip and the inevitably loss to the Packers, Beckham proceeded to punch a hole in the wall outside of the visitors’ locker room at Lambeau Field.
Giants’ fans, as well as upper management, hope that Beckham’s immaturity doesn’t continue to make headlines during the upcoming 2017 season. Heading into his fourth year in the NFL, one can only hope that Beckham would take this offseason to mature and develop not only as a player, but also as a leader.
The Giants kicked off the 2017 season Tuesday by beginning phase one of their offseason workouts. These team activities will allow Beckham the opportunity to get back to his routine with Eli Manning and start to work with his new teammate Brandon Marshall.
