Giants select Evan Engram with No. 23 pick

The New York Giants selected Ole Miss product Evan Engram, with the 23rd overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.

With Big Blue in need of support at the tight end position, they have found salvation with Evan Engram.

?Evans is a leader on the offense and was named the nation's most prolific tight end, winning first-team All-SEC and All-American accolades. He racked up 65 catches for 926 yards and eight touchdowns, not too shabby for a glorified receiver.

Eli Manning must be salivating at the idea of Odell Beckham Jr.., Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shepard and Engram jogging out to the line.

Engram provides versatility and speed from the tight end position, and opens the middle of the field up for Eli.

His acceleration out of his break will prove to be useful against linebackers and slot corners. With quick feet and flexible hips, his route running is refined and smooth.

By taking a tight end with their first-round draft pick, it leaves us asking a few questi

ons. What position will Jerry Reese address next, and should they have chosen David Njoku out of Miami?

David Njoku was the favorite to go to New York if O.J. Howard was off the board. Engram was a surprise pick as he is more utilized as a pass-catching tight end.

With the addition of Rhett Ellison, a blocking specialist, Engram can provide another receiving threat, allowing Beckham to work one-on-one coverage on the outside.

The Giants offense is going to be tantalizing in 2017, mark my words.
