Giants pick up fifth year option on Odell Beckham Jr.

The controversial but talented star will be in New York at least through the 2018 season.

After a few surprising draft picks and some uncertainty, at least we know one thing will stay the same: Odell Beckham Jr. remains the heart of New York. The Giants officially picked up the fifth-year option on the wide receiver’s contract.

The news comes as no surprise; OBJ is central to the Giants’ offense and he’s surpassed expectations since day one. In his first three seasons, he led the team in receptions, receiving yards, and TD catches.

He’s been critical in helping the Giants get to the playoffs for the first time since 2011, finishing last season with 101 receptions for 1,367 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The 24-year-old has always been criticized for his antics off the field, but he took to Twitter on Monday to reinforce his commitment toward improving.
