Q&A With Kerry Collins
You've under thrown a few balls this year, is your arm hurting or technique?
I needed to cut through the wind a little better. The other day. I was reading through some of the under throws, I just didn't get enough on it through the wind. I've been trying to put it on guys rather than lead them out there a little bit. I'm not worried about it. I definitely am aware of it and I'm trying to correct the problem. I really don't see it as anything big. It's something that I will continue to work on.
The Saints are very balanced, and scary up front. They're good. They're good all across the board on their defense. Certainly with Glover and Joe Johnson up front, they are just a force to be reckoned with. It's going to be a big challenge for us this weekend . They have been playing very sound defense. They create turnovers. They do a lot of good things, so this is going to be a big challenge for us.
Are you looking for some good rhythm on offense this weekend?
We're still working our way through that stuff. We're trying to get the running game going. Last week we knew we were going to throw the ball more than we were going to run it, but we also would like to have a little better balance. We'll continue to work on that. At this point we would like to get a good tempo. Just like to execute well in whatever we do. We've shown signs of executing well at times and at other times not so well. We would just like to become more consistent.
How will it feel to be back home since the events in New York?
There are going to be a lot of emotions, a lot of feeling, a lot of thought going through it, because I know a lot of people that perished in that attack were Giants fans. They probably came to the stadium every Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and will always be with them. We should take the time on Sunday to honor them and to honor their memory for all the support they have given us throughout the years. We'll recognize that and we'll recognize that for a long time to come. The best way to honor them is to play the game and play it the way it is supposed to be played. Play hard and try to do everything we can to win. That's >> the best way to approach it. We know that we're playing for something, and that's their memory.
People are calling this game a pivotal game and it's only the third game of the year, are people making too much of this?
I don't think so. It's big in the context of, it could be the way that the NFC will shape out down the road. Certainly you've got to think that New Orleans will be in the mix at the end. Hopefully if we play well and we're in the mix, it could come down to a head to head situation. That's a lot of speculation and fore though, but you have to be aware of those kinds of things even though this is the third game of the year. To know down the line that this could have an impact.
You get Ike Hilliard back and Joe is playing well, how is that going to help the offense?
Yea. I'm excited to have Ike back. He's not back in a full capacity yet, but to have his presence back there and his awareness, it's going to do nothing but good for us. Joe's play has spoken for its self. He's done real well. He's come around and turned the corner for us. I feel like when we have those three guys on the field that we have three legitimately good wide receivers. That's going to help on third downs. That's going to help us move the ball down the field a little bit more. Certainly, we're all glad to have Ike back.
This is your first time back at the stadium since you're your best game of your career, is it time for your fans to see you?
Yea, we're all exited to be back here at home, I defiantly am. I feel a certain sense of closeness with the people here. Especially with what has happened here in the last few weeks, that closeness has been more enhanced. I'm looking forward to it. We had a great time in the stadium the last time we were there, I'm looking forward to making some more memories.
