Fassel and Reid both under pressure

"They have had a couple turnovers in there that have hurt them but they are still a good football team."-Eagles coach Andy Reid on Giants

Q: When you first looked at the schedule and saw this game against the Giants, did you ever think that it wouldn't be a battle for first place in the division?

A: I hadn't put much thought into that but I think it will be a heck of a game.

Q: What impresses you the most about this Giants club?

A: Again, they have a very strong defense and a very explosive offense. They have had a couple turnovers in there that have hurt them but they are still a good football team.

Q: Can you talk about Donovan's thumb and what has been his problem this year in general?

A: He had pain in his thumb. He is not using it as an excuse and neither are we. He is playing with it and he is doing okay. Everybody has a little piece of the pie on this offense and it always gets pointed at the quarterback but we all have to do a better job, starting with me.

Q: Doesn't the thumb affect his performance though?

A: You look at the last quarter of our last game and he threw that ball pretty good and that was after he had been beat on a little bit. I am always looking at that and keeping my eyes open for it but he is okay there.

Q: How important is this game in terms of the division and the fact that you are both 2-3?

A: You look at the NFC East and it is tough. You better work to take advantage of every opportunity that you have.

Q: What do you think your team has done wrong to have 2-3 record right now?

A: We need to do better on offense, our defense has done a pretty good job; they can always do better. But, we've also got to do a better job on the offensive side.
