Vikings Coach Mike Tice
Q: What concerns you the most about the Giants?
A: We don't match up well against them. They have had some guys on their team like (Kenny) Holmes and the quarterback and the receiver and the linebackers that have played very well against us. For example, last year we didn't make a first down on third down - we were zero for...so they pose a tremendous challenge for us. For some reason we don't match up well against them.
Q: Can you talk a little bit about Mike Rosenthal and how he is playing and how he fits into the line?
A: Well, he fit in from day one, we really like Mike. He has done an outstanding job for us; he is a solid football player. He is great at that winning level and that is all you can ask for from a player; if he can go out each and every week and play at a winning level then you have a chance to be better. It also enabled us to move Chris Liwienski - who we think is a very good player - to the inside; to the left guard position. He has made us more solid across the front because we have been able to move Chris inside and get solid play from Michael out at the right tackle position.
Q: Do you think Rosey is looking forward to going up against Strahan?
A: I don't know. If it was me I would be looking forward to going against him, he is one of the premier players in the league. I don't know how you could not look forward to it. It is going to be a long day and it is going to take a lot of effort and a lot of work. Certainly we are not going to leave him out there hanging on an island alone, I can promise you that.
Q: Your club needs to be wary of this 2-4 Giants team?
A: We don't match up well - I said that earlier in the conversation. We are very concerned about this game; we didn't convert a third down against them last year, we benched our quarterback, they went up and down the field on us. They are averaging about 80 plays a game on offense and we are certainly worried about this team and they are a good football team. They have some players that have basically had their way with us, Holmes is one of them that I can put out there who had his way with us; with 14 tackles, two sacks, two caused fumbles in the last two games alone.
