Giants sign Norman Hand

The Giants continued to bolster their defensive line, signing DT Norman Hand, widely regarded as one of the best run-stoppers in the NFL.

Hand, a 6-3, 310-pounder, is entering his 10th NFL season. The Giants will be his fifth team. He has played in 104 regular season games with 77 starts and has started two postseason games. Hand has 285 career tackles (199 solo), 21.5 career sacks and two interceptions.

Hand is the fourth free agent defensive lineman acquired by the Giants in the last month. He joins tackles Fred Robbins and Martin Chase and end Lorenzo Bromell as newcomers on the defensive front. The Giants also re-signed defensive end Keith Washington.

In 2003, Hand played six games with five starts at left defensive tackle for the Seattle Seahawks. He had 10 tackles and a sack before a torn right biceps muscle forced him to go on injured reserve on Nov. 12.
