Giants, Chargers very close to deal

The Giant Insider has learned that the possibility of a Giants/Chargers trade for the top pick in Saturday's NFL Draft is extremely likely. Multiple sources stated that a deal is all but definitely going to happen either during the Chargers' selection time or shortly before.

The two possible scenarios TGI has heard are:

1) The Giants' #1, #2 (34th overall) and a player for the Chargers' number one, or

2) The Giants' #1, #3 (65th overall) this year and #2 next year for San Diego's coveted top pick

If so, that would free up the Giants to take Ole Miss QB Eli Manning, whom they have rated as the top player in the entire draft, and would also likely signal the end of the line for Kerry Collins, who's entering the final year of his deal.

TGI has also confirmed New York's interest in the following players: Purdue OT Kelly Butler, Northern Iowa LB Jonathan Harrell, Ohio State S Will Allen and Notre Dame S Glenn Earl.
