Needless to say I am very disappointed in the outcome of this game. I thought my guys played hard. They really tried. We wanted to run the ball, we wanted to eliminate some turnovers, we wanted to cut our penalties. We did a lot of things, it just doesn't seem right now that we can make a play to get momentum and we can't stop them from making a play.
We've got a week to try to figure some things out and look forward to what we've got to do. Very disappointing though, we gave a very good effort I felt we did some things that we had to do in this game.
What went wrong?
I don't know. We tried some different things. All week long I tried to lift their spirits. I looked at some things, but we were just a bit short and you have a hard time clicking. You need something to click and get things going. I'll try to do some things this week to try to bring the excitement back into it and make them have fun. I thought we did and they responded.
When you go out there you just can't make a play. a guy one on one and gets beat or we get a guy open and we can't make a play or drop the ball, fumble the ball on second down when we're going in. it's hard to always explain.
Re: Your defense giving up big plays?
It's a one zone and man. We've got guys not in the right position. Other than that sometimes a guy just gets beat.
How much did the Jurevicius dropped pass hurt?
I don't know. Like I said earlier, you've got to do some things early in the game to give you some hope. Our guys came out in the second half, we were playing hard and we had a chance to come back. At some point you've got to make a play out there, offense, defense special teams to give yourself hope. You can't be down 21-3, fight, and not get it in. We finally get one in, but you've got to make something happen. If we make that catch I don't know what it could have been.
Do you think some of your guys lost hope?
No. One thing that I do not question is there effort. They played hard right to the end. I took a couple of guys out at the end because it made sense. 2-minutes to go and down by 3 scores, but those guys want to stay in and they want to fight. I'm not going to be stupid about it and get somebody hurt.
Have they lost confidence?
No. We have to struggle and fight for it and I have to stay on them about it. At some point in time, you're just not making plays and it gets hard. It's hard enough to just keep hoping at different times, but guys have just got to make a play. So much of what we do is momentum and feeling. It seems like nothing can go wrong for you and you keep going. I'm saying that part of it, I'm proud of my guys because they played hard.
