It was a very disappointing day. We didn't come up with plays when we needed them. We gave up big plays and we were undisciplined on other plays. The same story as other games we lost, we beat ourselves.
I'm not taking anything away from The Raiders, they're a good football team, but we made the mistakes. There are a lot of guys with pride on this team and in the second half we came out with a lot of intensity because we didn't want to be shellacked up and down the field. We felt coming out in the second half, that if we played tough we could get back into this game.
You could see why they were 7 and 2, now 8 and 2, they're a great offensive team. They're playing well as a team right now; we knew it was going to be a difficult game going into it. They proved they're one of the elite teams in the league. We came out determined to get this victory, but we didn't do enough things to help ourselves win this game.
A whole bunch of things went wrong where we didn't help ourselves. Right now we're in a hole with our backs to the wall.
It's not over for us and anybody that thinks it is, we don't want them in this locker room. We need to hang in, come together like we have been. The one thing this team has is unity more than anything else. We just have to keep fighting, make more plays and get better.
We're not out of it; there are a lot of things that can happen. Their defense if very active, they give you a lot of different looks to try to confuse you, as evidence by the fact that we did have a couple of mental errors on just about every bodies part, but we ran the ball extremely well and I thought our pass protection was decent because they didn't give us and inordinate amount of pressure. Their defense if good enough to give their offense a chance to win the game.
They went out there and made plays and that's what winning teams do. We didn't make plays and that's why we lost and that's what it comes down to. I think we fought hard; we just didn't make enough plays and execute well enough to win. We thought we could win, thought we'd play a lot better obviously. They're a tough team, played a good game and won.
On the weather - They're a California team and we're a New York team and we should be used to bad weather. But when you come down to it that had nothing to do with the game, because both teams are playing in it. We're always going to fight but we have to come out and win games. It doesn't matter how hard you fight if you don't win.
When you lose a game, most of the time you did more to screw up than they did to win. We made a lot of errors and gave them a lot of plays, but don't get me wrong they're effective at what they do.
We didn't play well, we played tough, but we didn't play well. The score indicates that. Things aren't going very well for us right now and no one likes the feeling. It's not that we're not trying, but things aren't going well. What they showed us today is nothing that's unfamiliar to us. We got behind and we didn't execute.
Obviously the conditions for a comeback were not the way we wanted them, but that's no excuse.
They came out and drove right down the field on us on the first drive. That's not how our defense wants to start the game off. They made plays and we didn't. I had a chance to make a play and I couldn't catch my footing on that last touchdown. They made more plays than we did. I thought our scheme was sound. After the first half we really put ourselves in a deep hole. It's hard to come back from that. It's hard to put yourself in that position early. That hurts.
