Coughlin handles hairy situation, RB moves

Apparently George Steinbrenner and Marge Schott Tom Coughlin is not. It was expected that all the Giants would look as close to the straight and narrow as Coughlin could get them. However, one exception is OL Barry Stokes, who sports lengthy hair that hangs out from under his helmet and quite a face full of hair. While Coughlin's likely not thrilled about Stokes' look, he said he had no problem with it.

"He's a gregarious personality," Coughlin said. "He's a football player. There's no barber here."

Coughlin reportedly did address the hair issue with Stokes, who politely declined to chop his locks. Stokes has been growing his hair since he met a youngster at a hospital visit who said he thought Stokes would look best with long hair.

* New York made four RB roster moves before the morning practice. The Giants jettisoned Antwoine Womack and Jermaine Green and signed Chris Douglas, who was with the club earlier in the year, and BC product Derrick Knight.

Womack, whom the club was excited about, couldn't overcome his serious knee injury. It's quite possible that he'll need more surgery and the possibility exists that his career might be over. As for Green, he didn't pass New York's physical and apparently feigned minor injuries to put off having to take the test again.
