Asked about the players' availability for Sunday's game, Coughlin said, "Everybody practiced. Everybody worked. We will have some decisions to make on who is going to be active. With the exception of one or two spots, the priority on who will be active will be based on the player's contribution to special teams."
*The Giants will have a roster spot to fill because safety Shaun Williams is out for the season after undergoing surgery to repair the lateral cartilage in his left knee on Thursday. Tom Coughlin wasn't prepared to say today what he will do to fill the spot.
"The decision is forthcoming," Coughlin said. "Nothing is imminent. We are going to have to sit down and evaluate what our options are and make a decision."
Rookie Gibril Wilson will make his second start at safety in place of Williams. Coughlin was asked if he can point to Wilson as an example that players must always be ready to contribute, because they never know when their chance will come.
"I don't have to," Coughlin said. "The picture is already painted. When opportunity knocks, you have to be ready. Here's a guy that went from the classroom to being involved in the dime package to being involved in every package. It was an unfortunate injury that occurred to Shaun. But in many cases that's the way opportunity creates itself at this level in this game."
*Walker (broken bone in his foot) and Taylor (hamstring) missed the first three games. Whether they suit up for the first time this season will be determined on Sunday.
"Both players got a full week of practice in," Coughlin said. "Neither one showed any effects of their respective injury, and I expect that from a physical standpoint, both will be available to play on Sunday."
