Giants back after holiday break

On Wednesday, Ron Dixon did not practice with the first kickoff return unit and likely will be replaced on Sunday when the Giants visit Philadelphia.

"I haven't ruled him out completely," Head Coach Jim Fassel said. "I'll see how I feel and what transpires this week. He did not start with the first group today when I put the first kickoff return team out there."

According to Fassel, the candidates to replace Dixon are Omar Stoutmire, Emmanuel McDaniel, Will Allen and Will Peterson. Stoutmire has returned seven kickoffs this season for a 14.7-yard average. McDaniel has one 17-yard return. Neither of the rookies has a kickoff return this season, but Allen averaged 22.7 yards on 37 returns his final two seasons at Syracuse. Peterson returned kicks full-time in high school and sporadically in college at Michigan and Western Illinois.

*The Giants have four players on their injury list. Jason Sehorn (ankle) and rookie guard Rich Seubert (knee) are out. Running back Damon Washington (knee) is doubtful. Fullback Greg Comella (shoulder) is probable. For the Eagles, wide receiver James Thrash (ankle/rib) and defensive lineman Paul Grasmanis (knee) are questionable. Defensive tackle Hollis Thomas (stomach illness), tight end Jeff Thomason (knee/stomach illness) and punter Sean Landeta (wrist) are probable.
