Conference call with Falcons QB Michael Vick

Q: What do you remember about your first start as a professional?

A: My first start I was nervous, really didn't know what to expect, but at the same time I was excited.

I knew it was the start of my career so…there really wasn't any pressure on me at the time, but I just wanted to go out and show the world that I could play in the NFL. That's the only thing that I can remember.

Q: What advice would you give Eli Manning in terms of him making his first career start on Sunday?

A: Against us, I really don't have too much advice for him.

Q: But as a brother of the quarterback fraternity?

A: Any quarterback making his first start just has to go out and play with confidence and just make sure that when you make mistakes you don't let it get you down. That would be my advice to any quarterback coming out or making his first start.

Q: In your first few starts did you face an unusual amount of pressure from defenses…extra blitzing and confusion?

A: Yeah, there's going to be a lot of confusion. It's tough because a lot of the looks that you get you really don't know why you're getting them…your offense and the concepts that you're trying to execute and they throw a different defense and it confuses you a little bit. You just have to be able to handle it and try to learn from the sideline and learn from your mistakes.

Q: Is the Giants defense more complex than those you've seen?

A: Yes, it is. It's a very complex defense. They do some things out of a three down scheme and then a four down scheme. They blitz a lot so we definitely have to keep our eyes open and stay aware and make our adjustments on the sideline when we have to.

Q: You didn't get to play against the Giants the last two times you met; is there any way that can work to your advantage or are you just glad to be able to face them this time?

A: I'm just happy to be on the field. It doesn't matter if we're playing New York or any other team…just happy to have the opportunity to play in New York and try to get win number eight, so I'm very excited just to be playing because the last three years I was injured so just to be healthy at this point in my career.
