Giants offseason notes

The Giants offseason has officially begun. <BR><BR> The club has allocated nine players to NFL Europe for its 2005 season. <BR><BR>

Running back Clarence Farmer and offensive lineman Morgan Pears will play for the Rhein Fire. Wide receivers Ataveus Cash and Tony Johnson will play for the Amsterdam Admirals. Wide receiver Michael Jennings will play for the Berlin Thunder. Cornerback/returner specialist Lamont Brightful will play for the Frankfurt Galaxy, while defensive tackle Ahmad Childress will play for the league's newest team, the Hamburg Sea Devils.

Kicker David Kimball and punter Eddie Johnson have been allocated to the league, but have yet to be assigned to a specific team.

* The Giants were awarded fullback Luke Lawton via waivers from the Atlanta Falcons. Lawton, a three-year starter at McNeese State, was on the Giants' practice squad from October 14 to November 16 last season. He was in Buffalo's 2004 training camp.

* In addition to the players allocated to NFL Europe, the Giants have signed tight end Chris Luzar of Virginia (whom Coughlin drafted for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2002), offensive lineman Lewis Kelly, plus three players who were on the Giants' practice squad in 2004: wide Jason Geathers of Miami, defensive end Claude Harriott of Pittsburgh and defensive back Art Thomas of Virginia.
