Accorsi readies for Draft

On Wednesday, Giants GM Ernie Accorsi did his usual dance around questions from the media. Here follows some of the actual news that came from New York's annual Pre-Draft luncheon:

* Accorsi stated that it's highly unlikely that he'll trade into the first round, because he doesn't want to give up any of New York's four draft choices.

* Accorsi said that the offseason signings of Plaxico Burress, Kareem McKenzie and Antonio Pierce "took the positional pressure" off New York's second-round pick. "It relaxes you a little bit," he added.

* He said that the Giants have prepared exactly the same as they usually would, even though they don't pick until the second round, 43rd overall. "That's the only way you can do it," Accorsi said.

* Accorsi shot down the rumor that the Giants are looking to draft a cornerback in the second round. "We're not just going to pick a corner to pick a corner," he said.

* The Giants GM also confirmed a previous TGI report that the Giants have not offered either CB Will Allen or LT Luke Petitgout as trade bait, nor has any club called to inquire about either player.

* Finally, Accorsi snuffed out any rumors that his squad was interested in trading with the Browns for running back William Green.
