Giants swap rookie LBs

The Giants continue to put the finishing touches on their roster as the July 29th opening of training camp beckons.

New York signed rookie linebacker Chase Blackburn and waived rookie LB Derek Wake.

Blackburn, 6-3, 247, started 34 of 45 games in which he played at the University of Akron. He finished his career with 293 tackles (179 solo), 11 sacks, 38.5 tackles for losses and three interceptions. Blackburn starred at Marysville (Ohio) High School, where he had 320 career tackles. He was born on June 10, 1983.

Wake was signed as a free agent on May 6. He had 191 tackles and 8.5 sacks at Penn State.
