Coughlin Speaks to the Media

Giants coach Tom Coughlin spent quite some time on Friday chatting with the New York media at the Combine in Indianapolis. Here are some of the highlights of what came out of the session:

Coughlin admitted that the club was in need of defensive backs and stated that he wasn't yet sure what the status of Will Peterson would be for the coming season?

Coughlin stated how impressed he was with not only the speed and strength of Pro Bowl defensive end Osi Umenyiora, but his stamina as well. Coughlin remarked that Umenyiora was as fresh in the fourth quarter of most games as he was in the first?

Coughlin admitted displeasure at some of the on field 'pouting' from receiver Plaxico Burress, and said that he planned to talk to his star receiver about that and missing the season-ending meeting after the playoff loss to Carolina?

Not surprisingly at all, Coughlin said he hoped that Eli Manning would not join Burress and Jeremy Shockey at all to train in Miami during the offseason.

Coughlin said he was still unsure whether or not safety Brent Alexander and punter Jeff Feagles would retire.
