Giants tearing it up overseas

New York Giants safety Jason Shivers and punter Travis Dorsch were named the NFL Europe League Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the 10th and final week of the season (May 20).

Shivers recorded five tackles, three passes defensed and returned a fumble 45 yards for a touchdown to help the Hamburg Sea Devils defeat the Amsterdam Admirals 34-21 and win their final three games. The former Arizona State star was a big part of the Hamburg defense that forced five turnovers and scored two touchdowns.

“It was nice to create turnovers that resulted in points,” Sea Devils defensive coordinator Dan Daniel said. “I am proud of the way the defense played.

Dorsch averaged 44.7 yards on six punts, placing two inside the 20-yard line with a long of 60 yards in Rhein's victory over Cologne.

The former Purdue punter ranked second in NFL Europe with a 35.2 net yard average.
