Giants Hopeful Snee Won't Need Surgery

Giants RG Chris Snee underwent an MRI on Monday and the club is hopeful that he won't require surgery.

"They're going to treat the knee," Tom Coughlin said. "And at this point … they're not going to recommend surgery."

In Snee's absence, veteran former starter Rich Seubert has been running with the first team.

"Rich jumped right in there at right guard and did a good job," Coughlin said…

RB Derrick Ward is scheduled to undergo surgery Tuesday evening. Ward slipped while walking from one meeting room to the other and broke a bone on the outside of his foot.

"It's a sad thing," Coughlin said. "It's sad for Derrick and sad for the team."

Coughlin said they wouldn't know how long Ward would be on the shelf until after his surgery.

In the meantime, kickoff and punt returner Chad Morton and James Sims, a rookie free agent from Washington, will get a closer look.

"The Sims kid is going to get a lot of work," Coughlin said.

LB LaVar Arrington missed his third consecutive practice with what the club is calling "general soreness."

RB Brandon Jacobs, who missed practice Sunday with an irregular heartbeat, was cleared to practice and returned to action…

TE Visanthe Shiancoe returned to practice and caught three passes during a two-minute drill.
